Two WCRS leadership members have contributed to a volume on daily services in early modern Lutheranism (link). Dorothea Wendebourg supervised a research project funded by the German Research Council (DFG, link). In 2022, a conference brought together historians and theologians to discuss the state of research on daily services. In Lutheran Germany, morning and evening church prayers were a common congregational practice until the 18th and 19th centuries. The newly published volume focuses on the cities of Leipzig and Berlin. Dorothea Wendebourg presents evidence of daily services in Leipzig’s parish churches, while Andreas Stegmann discusses the Reformation in Berlin.
