The WCRS offers online courses to learn Christian Latin and to translate Latin texts together. Several groups are learning the basics using John F. Collins’ “Primer of Ecclesiastical Latin” (The Catholic of America University Press, it is possible to start a new group beginning with unit 1), other groups translate Latin sources. You can join one of the groups anytime. It is possible to meet more often over a shorter period of time, e.g. to translate a Latin source you need for your work. If you are interested in participating or have a suggestion for a Latin source to read, please contact Dr. Andreas Stegmann: stegmann@wittenbergcenter.de

What do you need to learn Latin?
  • A textbook that explains the grammar, contains the basic vocabulary and provides exercises.
  • A Latin grammar textbook that systematically presents the morphology and syntax of the Latin language.
  • A Latin-English dictionary with a sufficient number of entries.
