Being in Wittenberg and studying the Reformation means: engaging with Luther’s ’95 Theses on Indulgences’. Therefore, the Fellows of the Wittenberg Summer Course spend a day exploring the historical background of this text and studying it. In the evening the first Research Fellow of the Summer Course 2022, Prof. Steven Griffin (Ryle Seminary, Ottawa), presented his research on the Spanish reformers of the Sixteenth Century. Among them was Casiodoro de Reina (1520-94) who not only translated the Bible into Spanish but also published a ‘Confession of Faith’. He fled his native Spain and worked in different countries from England to Germany. The Fellows discussed the connections between the Spanish reformers and the Wittenberg Reformation. Prof. Griffin showed that the various branches of the Reformation shared a common ground and history but that they also developed in different ways.
