In 2025, the Wittenberg Center attended the Sixteenth Century Conference for the fourth time. The conference took place from October 30 to November 1 in Portland, Oregon. On November 1, the Center offered a roundtable discussion on the Zurich influence on the English Reformation at 8:30 am and a panel on ideas of royal supremacy in the mid-sixteenth century at 3:30 pm. Dr. Ashley Null, chairman of the Wittenberg Center’s board, and Dr. Andreas Stegmann, the Center’s executive director, were the speakers for both events. The 2024 Wittenberg Research Fellow, Professor Torrance Kirby of McGill University, also participated in both sessions. Professor Carrie Euler of Central Michigan University accepted the Center’s invitation to participate in the roundtable discussion. Two graduate students affiliated with the Center, David Alenskis (University of Toronto) and Benjamin Crosby (McGill University), chaired the discussions and contributed to them. The roundtable and panel received a lot of attention and were well attended. Seeing accomplished scholars like Profs. Kirby and Euler and Dr. Null, as well as young researchers, engage in dialogue was worth the trip to Portland. On Saturday morning, the Wittenberg Center invited everyone involved in its activities to a breakfast to network and experience the growing community of scholars over coffee and oatmeal. Participating in this great conference was a wonderful experience once again.
